About 100 days…

Danny “FunksMaName” Sugar: 100 Days of Word Plays

Part of “The 100 Days Project” I decided to try and draw a cartoon each day with a play on words I’d come up with that day. In order to try and keep myself motivated I wanted to make the project interactive, so I ran it as a daily quiz at http://www.facebook.com/100wordplays where every correct answer was worth 1 point.

It became obvious I’d need half points on day 2 when Ria cracked me up with guessing “Bon Jovi – Living on a Pear” for what was in fact “Little House on the Peary” – if someone could come up with funny idea I’d never thought of every day it would give me a reason to continue, peoples wild ideas would keep me laughing throughout the project.

Each drawing was completed anywhere between 2 minutes (i.e. “Teeny Tuner (Tina Turner)” – inexplicably my most popular drawing with over 100 more views than any other!) and a couple of hours. I remained oiled by by watching TV while drawing, having watched 2 seasons of Hannibal, 3 Seasons of Oz, 1 season of Deadwood, Sons of Anarchy and more!

Every drawing was created on an Apple iPad Air, in (the fantastic) Procreate App using an Adonit Jot Touch 4.

FunksMaName, don’t wear it out!

In case you were wondering – when I was searching for an available username they were all taken. I racked my brain until I came up with FunksMaName, over 10 years ago now, and it appeared to be available pretty much everywhere. I’m a musician, a bass player, and funk being my name seemed appropriate. If you see FunksMaName on any forums or youtube, it’s most likely to be me… If you have a PS4, feel free to add me to your PSN friends (let me know you’re from 100 days ;))
